Trustees

TrusteesTrustees should possess one or more of these spiritual gifts: servanthood, helping, discernment, leadership, administration, and giving. Trustees have oversight and care of all local church property, buildings, and equipment to further the mission of the church. This work is done in consultation with the pastor. Trustees need to engage in spiritual practices that build attentiveness to God’s will and the overall vision and direction of the pastor. 1 Corinthians 12:18, Proverbs 16:3, Titus 1:7-9

The Trustee Emeriti are Trustee David McDonald, and Trustee Ernest Thompson.

Deacons

DeaconsThe Deacon’s Ministry purpose is to serve the Lord and His Church by assisting the Pastor in meetings along with the spiritual and physical needs of the Church. The Deacons' Ministry are the elders of the church who oversees all ministries and assist the ministries in their purpose to fulfill God’s plan. They assist in many ways which include caring for the poor, the sick, serving the congregation through Communion and Baptism while ministering to the spiritual well being of the member’s families within the Church and outside in the community. Acts 6:1-6 and John 12:26

The Deacons Ministry consists of Deacon Kenneth Worthy, Deacon Ceasar Leysath/Vice Chairperson, Deacon Willie Bing, Deacon Roscoe Bush, Deacon Willie Grier, Deacon Thomas McClees, Deacon Evelyn Moore, and Deacon Gloria Pryor. The Deacon Emeriti are Deacon Roosevelt Branch, Deacon Dorothy Fulwood, Deacon David Jacobs, Deacon Bernice Manigo, Deacon Doris Outen, Deacon Evelyn Worthy, and Deacon Hughy Worthy, Jr.

Deaconess

DeaconessThe Deaconess Ministry at Gill Creek Baptist Church’s purpose is to serve the Lord and His Church by evangelizing to the unsaved, to assist in the spiritual matters of the church and serve as the female servant-leaders for the Pastor, to assist with the Deacons' Ministry and the congregation. The Deaconess ministry provides follow-up "after care" with the new converts, mentors to the young women of the church/community, comforting those in mourning/distress and visit the sick, deprived, destitute. Deaconess ministry will provide compassion through emotional and grief support to assist families who are experiencing various types of loss. Romans 16:2 and I Timothy 3:13

The Deaconess Ministry consists of Deaconess Hattie Bing, Deaconess Sharon Grier, Deaconess Harriet Haywood, Deaconess Shirley Jacobs, Deaconess Rebecca McClees, Deaconess Geraldine McGill, Deaconess Catherine Moses, Deaconess Gertrude Whiting and Deaconess Marty Worthy. The Deaconess Emeriti are Deaconess Martha Branch, Deaconess Ernestine Gantt and Deaconess Bertha Simons.

Brotherhood Ministry

BrotherhoodThe The Brotherhood Ministry is Gill Creek Baptist Church’s Men’s Ministry. The Brotherhood is purposed to provide the men at Gill Creek a fellowship where the men can grow spiritually, emotionally, and physically through various activities and forums. Christian Youth Ministry

Christian YouthThe Children and Youth Ministry purpose is to provide age appropriate biblical instructions promoting a loving, servant-like relationship with Jesus Christ in a safe and nurturing environment. The Youth Ministry purposed is to create a warm, safe and nurturing environment that is conducive for young people, grades 6th through 12th, to grow spiritually in Christ, to build healthy relationships and mature into responsible Christians a future leaders of the world. while supporting parents in the spiritual development of God’s children. Greeters Ministry

Greeters MinistryThe Greeters Ministry’s purpose is to provide initial care, comfort, hospitality and support to all members and visitors. Greeters serves as doorkeepers and also welcomes people into “The Creek”. Greeters establish and maintain the atmosphere in the church. As each individual enters the church, Greeters provide an acceptance, open arms into worship and guides them into a spirit-led experience. Grief Ministry

Grief MinistryThe Grief Ministry was created to offer comfort and companionship to the church’s bereaved and those in the community who have suffered a loss. The ministry provides bereavement care and guidance that encourages, educates and support those who are journeying through grief. The ministry’s objective is to come alongside those who are grieving and point them onto a path which will lead them into a place of wholeness and well-being again. Members of the Grief Ministry can walk with others through their valleys of grief because they know grief. They have experienced both the sorrows of grief and the hope and joy of God’s comfort which has enabled them to comfort others through the Great Comforter (2 Cor 1:4).


Healthcare Ministry

Healthcare MinistryThe purpose of the Healthcare Ministry is to provide care and attention to worshipers before, during and after services or other events. Intercessory Prayer Ministry

Intercessory Prayer MinistryThe Intercessory Prayer Ministry’s purpose is to intercede on behalf of others through prayer. We provide prayers for those who may need it before, during and after Sunday Worship, Small Group Study, Study of the Word (S.O.W.) and other Worship experiences. Pastoral CarePastoral Care’s purpose is to meet the needs and provide the members of Gill Creek Baptist with emotional support, relationship enrichment, spiritual growth and overall wellness. This ministry provides support to members who are experiencing difficulties, transitions and/or personal growth challenges that come along with everyday life relating to emotional and/or marital support. Gill Creek Baptist Pastoral Care has a licensed individual to offer a safe, confidential environment to help individuals and families move from crisis to emotional and spiritual wholeness. Senior Adult MinistryThe Senior Adult Ministry at Gill Creek Baptist Church for adults 55+ is purposed to provide fellowship with others and among ourselves. Women's Ministry

Women's MinistryThe Women’s Ministry’s purpose is to encourage women of all ages to love and serve with excellence. The Women’s Ministry creates mentoring opportunities for mature women to teach younger women, to pray for the needs, concerns and issues of women and their families, provide women the opportunity to build leadership skills by leading and/or participating in one of the various women’s events, to share the love of Christ with women in the community, and to serve all women by meeting their physical, emotional and spiritual needs through the power of the Holy Spirit.
